Welshman takes over at Steelers
Hockey stick
Bob Phillips, the owner of the Wales National Ice Rink, has taken over as owner of the Elite League ice hockey side Sheffield Steelers.

Phillips succeeds former Chesterfield FC chairman Norton Lea who is stepping down after four seasons in charge.

Phillips said he is determined to bring the good times back to Sheffield.

"We believe this club can be the biggest in the country, the best run and the most successful. Now we must start making this a reality." he said.

"I am grateful to Norton Lea for allowing us the chance of taking Steelers forward and I want to see the arena full of happy smiling faces."

"Within the Steelers' ranks there are people who have been waiting for the opportunity of pushing this club forward.

"They are driving its name awareness in the city, attracting new fans and sponsors and generally making this great hockey club proud once again."
