Sheffield Steelers have signed Canadian defenceman Rod Sarich ahead of the start of the Elite League season. The 24-year-old, a fourth-round draft pick by Florida Panthers in 1999, spent last term with Augusta Lynx in the East Coast Hockey League.
Sarich is expected to make his debut in the league opener against Nottingham Panthers on 10 September.
"I like the fact he played in Finland, you don't play in there unless you can play the game," said coach Paul Heavey.
