Goldstein faces lengthy lay-off

Goldstein was kicked by a horse after falling at Ludlow
Jamie Goldstein could be out of action for up to four months after suffering a broken leg.

The young jockey was due to ride the well-backed Bindaree in Saturday's Grand National, but sustained the injury in a fall at Ludlow on Wednesday.

Goldstein came to grief on board Saywhen in the Philip Leverhulme Memorial Novices' Chase and was taken to a hospital in Hereford for X-rays.

And on Thursday, Goldstein's father and agent, Ray, confirmed: "I've just spoken to him and he's got quite a bad break - it's broken right the way through.

"The specialist is going to see him and decide what to do. It looks like they'll probably pin it and then he'll just have to wait until it mends.

"It could take up to three or four months."

Despite his disappointment, Goldstein is said to be "in good spirits considering".
