Morrison realistic about Pisco Sour in Derby

Hughie Morrison believes his three-year-old runner Pisco Sour has an outside chance of causing an upset in the Epsom Derby tomorrow afternoon.

The East Ilsley-based trainer has entered his horse into a strong field with the Queen's horse Carlton House the favourite to win the race.

Morrison told BBC Berkshire: "We've got an outside chance but if you're not in you can't win it.

"Ultimately the objective of any owner or trainer is to win the Derby."

Morrison is happy with the horse's progress after it had its first run out recently at York.

It's very exciting to be in such smart surroundings with the best bred three-year-old colts in the world

He added: "He ran three weeks ago and we'll be disappointed if he hasn't improved considerably since that run because that was his first run of the season.

"I'll be surprised if we beat Carlton House on Saturday but last year's Derby winner got beaten in the same race and the same distance."

Morrison also hailed the race, adding: "It is the most famous flat race in the world.

"It's obviously very exciting for all concerned to be in such smart surroundings with the best bred three-year-old colts in the world."
