Henry Cecil's Epsom Oaks favourite Timepiece suffered a surprise defeat to the 7-1 chance Dyna Waltz in the Lingfield Epsom Oaks trial.

With Timepiece and Ceilidh House battling it out on the rails, Dyna Waltz powered through on the outside under Ryan Moore to win by a length.

Dyna Waltz is now 10-1 from 33s for next month's Epsom Classic.

But there was compensation for Cecil when Bullet Train won the Derby trial and he is now around 12-1 for the race.

However, the trainer admitted afterwards that he might not run in the Classic.

"He's improving all the time but you don't run in the Derby unless you think you have got a chance," he said.

"He's also in the King Edward at Royal Ascot. I'm not saying he won't got to the Derby, we'll just see what the trials bring and what Prince Khalid wants to do.

"He's still a baby and he has improved, but he has got to keep on improving."

The Sadler's Wells colt went to the front from the outset and handled the downhill turn well, but Aidan O'Brien's Captain James Cook appeared to slip at the bottom of the hill and was quickly pulled up before being later put down.

But as favourite Desert Myth's run petered out, Bullet Train kept up the gallop to hold Dubawi Phantom by two and a quarter lengths.

606: DEBATE

In the earlier race, the 4-7 chance Timepiece suffered a second defeat of the season to slip down the Oaks betting.

She seemed to be travelling nicely early on under Tom Queally but when she challenged Ceilidh House to go into the lead with two furlongs left, she was making heavy weather of things.

But Moore hit top gear on John Gosden's three-year-old and powered home for an unexpected win.

Moore said of his mount, last seen finishing ninth in the Nell Gwyn at Newmarket: "They went a good gallop and she just stayed on.

"She tries very hard and she just stays."

Timepiece is now 10-1 from 7-1 for the Oaks and a downcast Cecil will now also consider her participation.

"She was disappointing," he said. "She was hanging a bit and I don't know whether she's still a baby or she just didn't stay.

"She didn't run like she works."
