Tony McCoy is the most successful jump jockey of all time |
Tony McCoy overcame the disappointment of losing the Cheltenham Gold Cup by riding Synchronised to victory in the Midlands Grand National at Uttoxeter. The 14-times champion jockey had finished second in the feature race at Cheltenham on Denman 24 hours earlier. But McCoy, 35, guided the 15/2 second favourite to victory ahead of L'Aventure and Giles Cross. "He was on and off the bridle but he stayed in touch and I wanted to take my time on him," said McCoy. Synchronised may well now line up in the Scottish or Irish National. But trainer Jonjo O'Neill concedes that he is too small to be a contender to win the Grand National at Aintree.
