Fantasia won the Prestige Stakes at Goodwood last year |
Fantasia, second favourite for the 1,000 Guineas, may face Rainbow View in the classic at Newmarket on 3 May. Trainer Luca Cumani is planning to run the Sadler's Wells filly in the Nell Gwyn Stakes at Newmarket next month. Rainbow View owner George Strawbridge bought Fantasia in January and it had been assumed the pair would be kept apart for the Group One race. But Cumani said: "We'll see what happens in the Nell Gwyn and then he'll make a decision." The Newmarket trainer said he would not be too perturbed if Strawbridge decided not to run Fantasia on home turf. "It doesn't matter - we can go to France or Ireland, and a Guineas is a Guineas," he said. Cumani was upbeat about the prospects for Swop, his first runner in the William Hill Lincoln at Doncaster on 28 March. He told a press briefing: "The horse has had three runs in Dubai and is fit and well, so it makes sense to have a go." But Cumani added a note of caution about the going. "Fingers crossed the rain stays away, as he wants good or fast ground - if it's soft he won't run," he said.
