O'Brien's horses have won the 2000 Guineas in three of the last four years |
Aidan O'Brien has entered 11 colts for the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket on 2 May. The Irish trainer's contenders include two of the ante-post market leaders, Rip Van Winkle and the top two-year-old in 2008, Mastercraftsman. The Godolphin stable has 12 entries among the total of 88 received for the first classic of the flat season. There is also a strong contingent from France with Freddie Head entering Naaqoos and Andre Fabre with unbeaten colt Sand Tiger. Newmarket director of racing Michael Prosser said: "There is significant depth to the entry which includes any amount of horses with untapped potential and conjecture about them is always one of the most intriguing aspects of the Stan James 2000 Guineas build-up." The 1000 Guineas has attracted 65 entries including Newmarket trained ante-post favourite Rainbow View and unbeaten two-year-old Serious Attitude for the fillies' classic on 3 May.
