Snoopy Loopy (l) and Monet's Garden battled it out to the finish |
Monet's Garden recovered after defeat last time out at Aintree by edging out Snoopy Loopy on the run-in to win the Peterborough Chase at Huntingdon. The 5-1 chance showed plenty of spirit after struggling on the back straight to win by half a length. Snoopy Loopy set a tough early pace as he tried to continue his good recent form under Seamus Durack. But he jumped the last poorly and it allowed Monet's Garden and Davy Condon to come through and snatch victory. Richards said: "That was just the job. One or two of mine haven't really been firing but he is the kind of horse that puts a smile back on your face. | 606: DEBATE |
"I'll have to talk to the owner (David Yates) but he has had a hard race today and it might be that we miss the King George and wait until Ascot." Snoopy Loopy, who won the Betfair Chase at Haydock and finished third in last month's Hennessy Gold Cup, ran another superb race and will now be aimed at the King George Chase at Kempton on Boxing Day, where he is a 16-1 chance. His trainer Peter Bowen said: "The horse always comes out of his races well and that's why we keep on running him. I can't wait for the King George now."
