Highlights: Queen Elizabeth II Stakes Raven's Pass was crowned as the top miler in European racing as Jimmy Fortune guided him to an impressive win in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes. The 3-1 shot saw off the challenge of his great rival and pre-race favourite Henrythenavigator at Ascot, while Sabana Perdida took third place. "Horse, trainer and jockey finally got it right all at the same time," trainer John Gosden told BBC Sport. Tamayuz was tipped as a contender but he was unable to survive the pressure. It was a memorable victory for Raven's Pass and his connections, who has had to play second fiddle to Henrythenavigator on several occasions in big races over the last two seasons. "We knew that this time we would have to be handy and not allow the others to get too much of a lead," said Gosden. The field - led by Honoured Guest - got off to a rattling pace, but Fortune timed his run to the front to perfection and Johnny Murtagh could not coax enough pace out of Henrythenavigtor to retrieve the situation. Gosden was delighted and will now weigh up his next move with a trip to the Breeders' Cup on the cards. "The plan is now to go to the Breeders' Cup, whether that is for the Mile or the Classic we will have to see - he sees his races out much better now," he said. | 606: DEBATE | "He has been on the go since February, but he looks great in his coat." Fortune added: "I was trying to sit and sit today, but I sensed Johnny (Murtagh) on my quarters and I knew it was time to kick then. "He really stuck his neck out." Henrythenavigator trainer Aidan O'Brien, who has endured a difficult week after being found guilty of breaching "team tactic" rules, was not able to add to his enormous Group One haul this season. But O'Brien was happy enough with Henrythenavigator's performance at Ascot. "He ran a stormer but the ground was quite loose and he's better on a fast surface," said O'Brien. "I'm not putting that up as an excuse and hopefully we'll have a look at Santa Anita (Breeders' Cup) - although I'm not sure which race yet."
