Vision D'Etat gets his nose in front to continue his unbeaten run |
French trainer Eric Libaud earned the biggest win of his career when Vision D'Etat won the Prix du Jockey Club at Chantilly - the French Derby. Ridden by Ioritz Mendizabal, the unbeaten colt edged out the Dermot Weld-trained Famous Name late on. Pat Smullen came with a run down the outside and looked likely to get his head in front before the winner put in a late charge. The 1,000 Guineas winner Natagora ran a game race in third for Frankie Dettori. Dettori elected to let the two pacemakers have their own way in front and settled the grey filly in third. He took up the running two furlongs out but was quickly challenged by favourite High Rock and the eventual winner.
