Mick Channon has announced he is making his final preparations for the flat season in the Middle East.

Speaking to BBC Radio Berkshire from his West Ilsley yard, Channon said Dubai is the place to be.

"It's good to get the sunshine on the horses back and it doesn't do me any harm either.

"You'd be mad not to go out there. You can win as much prize money in a day as I might in a whole season here," Channon said.

The start of the flat season in Britain may still be a couple of months away, but Channon is already looking forward to it.

"It's a great time of year to be a trainer. The season may still be six or eight weeks away, but we're living in dreamland at the moment. What will become a star?

"That's what makes it exciting. At this stage I don't know. If I knew that I'd be the richest man on earth."
