Dettori has enjoyed a frenetic 48 hours |
Double Derby-winner Frankie Dettori says the magnitude of his achievement is only just starting to hit him. Dettori was back among the winners at Windsor on Monday after his maiden win in the Derby on Authorized and victory in the French equivalent on Lawman.
"I haven't slept much, but it has
been worth it," he said.
"France was a bit of a blur as I was still riding high on the back of Epsom.
But now I've read the papers and looked at the trophies it's sinking in."
Dettori rode his first winner since landing the Derby double when Moon Quest justified even-money favouritism on his debut in the Scott Wilson Maiden Stakes at Windsor.
"It is not a Derby, but they all count," he said. "This was an egg and spoon
race, but the horse has won well.
"The last couple of days have been a complete rollercoaster of emotions and so much has happened.
"Horses have a sixth sense and when you are on a high, they can feel your energy, adrenalin and positive input.

"It makes a real difference. Everyone has been so supportive and nice to me over the last couple of days." The jockey repeated his desire to win the Derby carrying the famous blue colours of his employers, Godolphin, after Sheikh Mohammed released him to ride Authorized.
"I spoke to Sheikh Mohammed last night and he said to keep up the good work. I just hope I can go and win it for him next year," said Dettori.
He was reluctant to say which of the two Derby-winning horses he rode at the weekend was the best, but eventually plumped for Authorized.
"I think it would be very unfair to compare the two horses. One race was over a mile and a half (Authorized), one was over 10 furlongs (Lawman)," he said.
"Epsom is usually the best Derby. Only time will tell which is the best, but if I had to stick my neck out, I'd say Authorized was the best right now."
