Fallon has never ridden in the Melbourne Cup before |
Irish jockey Kieren Fallon is free to ride in next month's Melbourne Cup despite incurring a suspension from Australian stewards. Fallon pleaded guilty to a charge of causing interference after winning at Melbourne's Moonee Valley track.
Stewards banned him from riding for 10 meetings but the suspension expires at midnight on 6 November, allowing him to ride in the Melbourne Cup the next day.
Fallon said: I'm relieved. It wouldn't have been nice to be heading home."
Fallon is currently banned from riding in Britain while he race-fixing charges, which he denies, but he was granted a local licence to ride in Australia during the Melbourne Cup carnival.
He is booked to ride Irish horse Yeats for Aidan O'Brien in the big race.
