Racewatch: Royal Ascot day four

All the action from day four of the five-day 2006 Royal Ascot meeting.

Nannina was crowned champion three-year-old filly over a mile with a brilliant victory in the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Frankie Dettori got his first winner of the week on Sander Camillo in the Albany Stakes while Kieren Fallon rode his third of the week on Papal Bull in the King Edward VII Stakes.

Trainer Mark Johnston had a 467-1 treble - I'm So Lucky in the Wolferton Handicap, Soapy Danger in the Queen's Vase and Linas Selection in the King George Stakes.

1530 - King George V Stakes (1m 4f)
1 Linas Selection (K Darley) 9-2
2 Enjoy The Moment (Craig Williams) 50-1
3 Bandama (R Moore) 7-1
4 Lake Poet (K McEvoy) 9-1
19 ran

Mark Johnston completed a 467-1 treble in the last race when Linas Selection (9-2) coasted home by three-and-a-half lengths.

Darley always had his mount in an ideal position and even though Kieren Fallon looked to have the favourite, Pearly King, in a position to challenge, Linas Selection burst clear.

Jamie Osborne's Enjoy The Moment (50-1) stayed on for second, with Bandama (7-1) in third and Lake Poet (9-1) in fourth.

1655 - Queen's Vase (2m)
1 Soapy Danger (K Darley) 4-1
2 Galient (P Robinson) 11-4 fav
3 Ermine Sea (J Fortune) 33-1
11 ran

Mark Johnston completed an 85-1 double when Soapy Danger lifted the Queen's Vase in the hands of Kevin Darley.

The 4-1 shot took over from long-time leader Galient early in the straight but then went across the 11-4 favourite to grab the far rail.

Philip Robinson got a second run out of Galient and he was only a length and a quarter behind at the line. Ermine Sea was half a length back in third. Darley received a one-day ban after a stewards' inquiry.

1625 - Wolferton Handicap (1m 2f)
1 I'm So Lucky (J Fanning) 16-1
2 Wild Savannah (J Fortune) 9-2
3 Crosspeace (R Ffrench) 20-1
4 Blue Monday (S Drowne) 15-2
16 ran

Mark Johnston landed his first winner of the meeting when I'm So Lucky made every yard of the running in the Wolferton Handicap.

Sent to the front under Joe Fanning he wound up the pace turning into the straight and gradually pulled further clear in the final two furlongs.

Johnston, whose string have been under a cloud this season, also saddled the third home, Crosspeace (20-1). The well-fancied Wild Savannah (9-2) finished half a length in front of Crosspeace.

1550 - Coronation Stakes (1m)
1 Nannina (J Fortune) 6-1 jt fav
2 Flashy Wings (J Spencer) 13-2
3 Nasheej (R Moore) 20-1
15 ran

Nannina was a comfortable winner of the day's feature race.

Jimmy Fortune pushed the John Gosden-trained daughter of Medicean into the lead about two furlongs out and she stormed clear.

The 6-1 joint favourite won by two lengths from Flashy Wings, ridden by Jamie Spencer, with Nasheej three-quarters of a length back in third.

Speciosa, the 1,000 Guineas winner, had been in front going into the final stretch before falling back and finishing ninth.

1510 - King Edward Vll Stakes (1m 4f)
1 Papal Bull (K Fallon) 5-4 fav
2 Red Rocks (L Dettori) 3-1
3 Sixties Icon (S Kelly) 8-1

Kieren Fallon landed his third winner of the week after driving 5-4 favourite Papal Bull home to success in the King Edward VII Stakes.

The Sir Michael Stoute-trained three-year-old got the better of Frankie Dettori's mount Red Rocks, who set a steady early pace.

Papal Bull prevailed by a neck while Sixties Icon was a further two-and-a-half lengths back in third.

1435 - Albany Stakes (6f)
1 Sander Camillo (L Dettori) 4-1 fav
2 Silk Blossom (M Hills) 7-1
3 Scarlet Runner (K McEvoy) 20-1
20 ran

Frankie Dettori finally got off the mark at Royal Ascot this year with victory on Sander Camillo in the first race.

Always handy and leading two furlongs out, the Jeremy Noseda-trained 4-1 favourite went on to take the Albany Stakes in good style.

She defeated Silk Blossom (7-1) by a length and a half, with Scarlet Runner (20-1) another half-length away third and The Queen's runner Medley fourth.
