Fallon won the top-jockey title on countback |
Kieren Fallon has won the top jockey title at Glorious Goodwood following his victory in the finale of the week - the Vodafone Stewards' Cup. Fallon narrowly avoided being kicked by his mount ahead of the race before going on to seal victory.
He sealed three wins in total, along with John Egan and Martin Dwyer, but his three second places eventually sealed the top-jockey title.
"It is always nice to receive an award like this," said the rider.
"We might not be talking about it during the week, but the lads are always thinking about winning it.
"The racing here is always competitive and it's been a good week, but the highlight must be winning the Stewards' Cup."
Fallon did, however, pick up a one-day ban at the meeting for careless riding aboard Wise Dennis in the second race on the card.
Mark Johnston, meanwhile, was named top trainer at Goodwood following his three wins.
