Gerald Mosse celebrates his win on Bullish Luck |
Bullish Luck ended his stablemate Silent Witness's remarkable winning streak to take the Champions Mile at Sha Tin in the final strides. The Tony Cruz-trained Silent Witness, who had won his last 17 races, was away quickly and made most of the running.
Bullish Luck was well behind under Gerald Mosse, but Silent Witness was racing over his longest-ever distance.
He struck for home in the straight but began to tire and was worn down close to the line by his rival.
British raider Attraction missed the break and finished a tame 11th.
Kevin Darley was pushing the Mark Johnston-trained Attraction along during the early part of the race to get a position.
But the filly never appeared to be travelling well and dropped away in the last two furlongs.
Bullish Luck did not look the most likely winner turning for home as he was stuck on the inside rail and was already under pressure.
However, he showed a real turn of foot in the final stages, and his superior stamina saw him get up on the line to take the valuable Group One prize.
