Spot Thedifference claimed back-to-back successes at Cheltenham by winning the Sporting Index Chase on day one of the Open meeting on Friday. The 13-8 favourite, winner of the cross-country race at the Festival in March, overhauled Lord Jack to triumph under jockey JT McNamara.
McNamara said: "He's some horse around here. He's good and hopefully he's even better with age this year."
Earlier, Bold Bishop's late run secured victory in the Beards Jewellers Cup.
The 8-1 shot, ridden by Brian Harding, did not travel well but came up with a burst approaching the last fence.
With leaders Tiger Cry and Andreas in his sights, Bold Bishop jumped the last well and then ran on up the hill to give trainer Jonjo O'Neill a notable win.
