Hurricane Run was one of the most impressive recent Arc winners

The French-trained colt had been a general 2-1 favourite for the contest at Belmont Park on 29 October.

Trainer Andre Fabre said: "Hurricane Run coughed last Friday and again over the weekend. He will miss his intended engagement in the Breeders' Cup Turf."

Hurricane Run gave jockey Kieren Fallon his first Arc win, with a four-length triumph, earlier in October.

The horse, who also won the Irish Derby in a brilliant three-year-old campaign, will not run again this year, but remains in training for next season.
