This year's Epsom Oaks winner, Eswarah, has been retired after chipping a bone in her knee. The Michael Jarvis-trained filly held on late to deny Something Exciting in the Oaks in June.
She was last seen in action when finishing a disappointing fourth behind Punctilious in the Yorkshire Oaks at the Ebor meeting.
X-rays revealed a small chip in a knee and she has been retired to stud by owner Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum.
Eswarah's Epsom victory gave trainer Jarvis and jockey Richard Hills their first wins in the race.
"Eswarah was a very high-class filly, winning three of five starts, and she was blessed with a great turn of foot for a middle-distance filly," said the owner's racing manager, Angus Gold.
"I would like to pay tribute to Michael Jarvis and his team who did such a wonderful job with her."
