All 50,000 tickets for the first Cheltenham Gold Cup to be run on a Friday have been sold. The big race is switching from its traditional slot as the National Hunt Festival is extended from three to four days.
Critics of the move say the course is cashing in on demand from punters.
But organisers have pledged the Festival, which takes place from 14 to 18 March, will be packed with top-quality action on all four days.
Badges are still available for the other three days, although tickets are reported to be selling fast.
