Best Mate is likely to run just twice before Cheltenham next March |
Triple Gold Cup winner Best Mate's seasonal reappearance next month will be shown live on BBC Television. The nine-year-old will begin his campaign for a fourth Cheltenham Gold Cup success in a 2m 7f chase at Exeter on Friday 19 November.
The William Hill Chase is a new race on the calendar and could also attract several of his Cheltenham rivals.
After Exeter, Best Mate will run at Leopardstown or Kempton at Christmas before heading for Cheltenham in March.
Trained by Henrietta Knight, Best Mate became a racing legend last March when he became the first horse since Arkle in 1966 to win three Gold Cups.
More than 5,000 fans turned out to see him at a special open day at his trainer's Oxfordshire yard in September.
