It was the fourth successive win for jockey Peter Gehm |
Registana won the famous Czech steeplechase, the Velka Pardubicka, for the second year running. The German-trained mare was one of only seven finishers from the 18-horse field for the tough 4-mile test featuring several intimidating obstacles.
She made most of the running and ran away from her rivals on the run-in to give German jockey Peter Gehm his fourth successive win.
British challenger Luzcadou refused less than a mile from the finish.
"We had a good position most of the way and he jumped beautifully," said Luzcadou's trainer Ferdy Murphy.
"He was about 12 lengths off the lead when a loose horse distracted him at the ditch and he refused."
Czech horse Retriever came in second, ridden by 52-year-old Josef Varna, with Radek Havelka on Decent Fellow third.
