Sir Rembrandt recovered from a bad show at Newbury last week |
Sir Rembrandt stayed on his feet to claim the John Hughes Rehearsal Chase at Chepstow on Saturday. Andrew Thornton guided the seven-year-old safely over the fences to win by seven lengths.
Last year's Grand National winner, Bindaree, picked up second spot with Stormez third.
Favourite Keen Leader failed to live up to expectations, shaking off jockey Liam Cooper after a bad jump, while See More Business was fourth.
Sir Rembrandt had stayed out of trouble for much of the race, prefering to bide his time before challenging for the lead.
The 9-4 second favourite went to the front seven fences from home before smoothly stretching away from the field.
"He travelled so well," Thornton said after the race.
"He loves the dead ground and it shows because he jumped so nicely."
