Tap Dance City led from start to finish to clinch a nine-length victory in the Japan Cup on Sunday. The six-year-old horse, ridden by Tetsuzo Sato, led a Japanese one-two-three in the 11-furlong event which has a first prize of �1.3m.
Tap Dance City took the lead soon after the start in the 18-horse elite thoroughbreds race and never faced a serious challenge.
He beat That's the Plenty and third finisher and favourite Symboli Kris S.
The sole British runner, Sir Michael Stoute's Islington, was only ninth of the 18 runners in her last race before retirement.
Champion jockey Kieren Fallon had the filly handily placed in the first six for most of the race but she faded in the home straight.
The French-trained Tigertail did best of a tame European quartet by finishing sixth of the 18 runners.
The four-year-old, trained by Rod Collet, did better than her compatriots Ange Gabriel (seventh) and Ana Marie (12th).
American raider Johar, who dead-heated with High Chaparral in the Breeders' Cup Turf, only beat two horses home while last year's Japan Cup runner-up Sarafan fared even worse, finishing next to last.
