Carberry is following in his father's footsteps. Tommy was one of the leading jockeys in the 1970s, winning the Gold Cup three times and the Grand National once, securing a rare Gold Cup-National double in 1975.
Carberry junior emulated his father's Aintree win on L'Escargot with a victory of his own aboard Bobbyjo in 1999.
Having learnt his trade through hunting, show jumping and point-to-pointing in Ireland, Carberry is now a highly respected and stylish champion jockey.
In 2002, he took that honour for the first time in Ireland where he became the first man since Charlie Swan in 1996-97 to ride a century of winners.
Carberry boasts five winners at jump racing's showpiece event, the Cheltenham Festival.
The biggest of those came in 1999 when he saddled Looks Like Trouble to victory in the Royal and SunAlliance Chase.
The horse went on to win the Gold Cup the following year, with Richard Johnson in the saddle.
