1 Brian Boru (J Spencer) 5-4 Fav
2 High Accolade (M Dwyer) 8-1
3 Phoenix Reach (D Holland) 8-1
Brian Boru gave Jamie Spencer his first victory in a British Classic by winning a thrilling St Leger.
The 5-4 favourite, trained in Ireland by Aidan O'Brien, went head-to-head with High Accolade (8-1) in the closing stages and got the upper hand to win by a length and a quarter.
Phoenix Reach was a further length and a half back in third, with Maharib fourth.
O'Brien, who was winning his second St Leger following Milan's success two years ago, said: "Jamie said he was going to put him to sleep and that's what he's done.
"I probably overdid the three-year-olds in the spring and because we gave them a break in the summer, thankfully some of them have come on leaps and bounds.
"Brian Boru is a lovely horse and has plenty of pace, even though this race is a mile and six.
"He can pull up if he gets there, but he has that cruise and if you put him to sleep he can come there on the bit if you can wait on him."

1 Tug of Love (L Dettori) 13-2
2 Arcalis (J P Spencer) 4-1 Jt Fav
3 Chantress (J Fanning) 4-1 Jt Fav
Frankie completed a near-20-1 double when he conjured a late rally out of Tug Of Love.
The winner looked beaten as Arcalis took over inside the last of the 10 furlongs.
But the Sir Michael Stoute-trained three-year-old would not be denied and got back up on the line to land the spoils by a short head, with Chantress just a head away in third in a thrilling finish.

2 Island Light (L Dettori) 7-1
3 Flighty Fellow (P Robinson) 12-1
Muchea won the race for the second successive year to continue the fine run of trainer Mick Channon.
The West Ilsley handler reached a century of winners for the season on Friday, when his three victories included a Doncaster double.
Tony Culhane, who rode Channon's two winners on Town Moor, was in the saddle again on the nine-year-old Muchea , who came from well off the pace to beat Island Light by two lengths.
Flighty Fellow was a short head away in third, with Nuit Sombre fourth.
"He's a grand old horse and he was unlucky at York the other day. I maybe should have won on him," said Culhane.

2 China Eyes [M Hills] 7-2
3 Nights Cross [A Culhane] 12-1
Trainer David Loder landed a quick-fire double when Howick Falls and Frankie Dettori took second race at Doncaster.
The favourite looked to have plenty to do a furlong out when Michael Hills pushed China Eyes into the lead.
But Dettori had his rival in his sights and stormed past the Barry Hills-trained filly in the last 100 yards to triumph by three-quarters of a length.
Nights Cross was another two lengths away in third.
Dettori said afterwards: "It's been a bit of a bogey race - I've never won it before, so it's nice to get this in the bag."
1320 GNER Condition Stakes1 2 Kheleyf [JP Spencer] 1-2 fav
2 Golden Sahara [L Dettori] 5-1
3 Millbag [A Culhane] 14-1
Kheleyf reeled in Golden Sahara in the final half-furlong to win the first race of the afternoon.
The hot favourite, trained by David Loder and with Jamie Spencer in the saddle, won by a length-and-a-half.
Khleleyf was the back-marker as first Knickyknackienoo then Imperial Echo set the pace.
But even when Frankie Dettori set sail for home on Godolphin's Golden Sahara, Spencer did not panic.
He waited for a gap to appear before unleashing Kheleyf to storm past Dettori's mount and take victory. Millbag was a further length back in third.
