How do race meetings get their names?

Clare Balding: If you take the race we have just seen, the Amlin Reynoldstown Steeplechase.
Amlin is the name of the sponsors and Reynoldstown was a great chaser in the 1930s - he won the Grand National two years running in 1935 and 1936.
How much do saddles weigh?
Shaun Mustoe, UK
Jockey Mick Fitzgerald: The saddle I have only really weighs about 1�lbs, and I've gone round the National on this one.
The irons are made of carbon-fibre - the stuff, I think, they use in space technology.
Richard Pitman: Saddles do go up to a stone.
Fitzgerald: A lot of championship races have top weights of 12 stone. But I'm quite heavy myself, so there isn't much 'dead weight'.
Having followed horse racing for over 20 years the one thing I hate to see the most is an obviously tired horse not being pulled up.
Second place prize money surely was not worth the risk?

Clare Balding: She's making particular reference to Indian Scout, who fell at the last fence.
Liam Cummins, who was on board, knew he was riding for second-place prize money, which was �7,000, and there was one more fence to jump.
Peter Scudamore: Jockeys do love their horses. It's the jockey's job to get the horse round, and falling is one of the downsides of the game.
It is unfortunate. Jockeys are doing their best and commonsense has to come into it a lot of the time.
What odds would the team give on Tony McCoy doing a Frankie Dettori and one day winning every race at a meeting?

Peter Scudamore: I know Martin Pipe is very keen to do that as it would show what a depth of talent he has in the stable.
Watch Newton Abbot or Exeter late or early in the season and they might try to do it.
