Beef roasts rivals
Beef Or Salmon (number seven) moves up to challenge Colonel Braxton at Leopardstown
Beef Or Salmon (no 7) won the Ericsson Chase

Ericsson Chase (three miles)

1 Beef Or Salmon (Timmy Murphy) 5-1
2 Colonel Braxton 20-1
3 Harbour Pilot 6-1
4 Foxchapel King 8-1

Beef Or Salmon was the 5-1 winner of the Ericsson Chase at Leopardstown on Saturday.

Michael Hourigan's rising star made it three wins out of three over fences to make a claim as an outstanding prospect.

The six-year-old was the clear winner in a race which saw the two fancied runners come in at the rear of the seven-horse field.

Two-time winner Rince Ri was sixth with First Gold finishing last.

Trainer Hourigan said Beef Or Salmon would now be entered in the Hennessy at Leopardstown and the Cheltenham Gold Cup.

"Jumping is the name of the game and he just loves it," said the winning trainer.

"Dorans Pride was wonderful for me and this horse has the same temperament - nothing bothers him."

Limestone Lad won as a 4-6 favourite at Leopardstown
Limestone Lad secured his 35th career victory

Earlier, Limestone Lad secured his 35th career victory by leading from start to finish to win the Woodiesdiy.com Christmas Hurdle over three miles.

The Leopardstown punters were confident Jimmy Bowe's 10-year-old would get revenge for his 2001 defeat to Bannow Bay.

Limestone Lad, ridden by Paul Carberry, was returned as the 4-6 favourite with Boss Doyle second (14-1) with Bannow Bay third (6-4).
