2 Act One 8-11f (T Gillet)
3 Simeon 15-2 ( L Dettori)

Sulamani won the French Derby after beating off hot favourite Act One in a fast-paced race at Chantilly on Sunday.

The Pascal-Bary trained colt was produced by jockey Thierry Thulliez with a furlong left to run and overhauled the Mark Johnston-trained Act One, ridden by Thierry Gillet.

The pair had gone clear of Frankie Dettori's mount Simeon, who had taken up the running from pacemaker Temple of Artemis on the turn for home.

Sulamani, a half-brother to former Jockey Club winner Dream Well, won by several lengths from the Jonathan Pease-trained grey with a gap back to Simeon in third.

"This horse has incredible acceleration," said Bary, for whom it was his fourth French Derby win.

Dream Well went on to win the Irish equivalent, but Sulamani's connections have yet to decide if he will follow suit.

Racing manager Alan Cooper said: "He's a horse that has had a couple of races in a short period of time and he's still got the maturing to come.

"I think we will see how he takes the race before we make any commitments to plans because I think he's a horse that will get better in time."
