Newmarket: day three
BBC Sport Online rounds up all action from the third and final day of the Guineas meeting at Newmarket.

Frankie Dettori on Kazzia won the feature race of the day, the Sagitta 1,000 Guineas, the fillies' Classic over the famous Rowley Mile.

Going: Good to firm

1720 Hastings Maiden Stakes (1m)

1 Mineshaft 9-2 (P Robinson)
2 Hero's Journey 8-1 (D Holland)
3 Izdiham 14-1 (W Supple)

1650 March Handicap (1m 4f)

1 First Ballot 12-1 (K Fallon)
2 Warrsan 4-1f (L Dettori)
3 Dance In The Day 16-1 (P M Quinn)
4 Mana d'Argent 7-1 (R Ffrench)

1620 May Classified Stakes (7f)

1 Millenium Dragon 9-4f (L Dettori)
2 Terfel 25-1 (M Fenton)
3 Kulachi 25-1 (S Drowne)

Frankie Dettori quickly backs up his 1,000 Guineas win with a runaway victory on favourite Millenium Dragon.

Terfel, in the hands of Michael Fenton, hung on for second with another outsider Kulachi, trained by Mick Channon, in third.

Mark Johnston's highly-fancied Rajab trailed off to come in fourth.

1545 Sagitta 1,000 Guineas Stakes
(Group One, 1m)

1 Kazzia 14-1 (L Dettori)
2 Snowfire 28-1 (Pat Eddery)
3 Alasha 6-1 (J Murtagh)

Godolphin's Kazzia, ridden by Frankie Dettori, won the fillies' Classic by a short head from Snowfire with the Sir Michael Stoute-trained Alasha getting up for third.

Luca Cumani's impressive two-year-old Gossamer became the punters' fancied runner after the withdrawal of ante-post favourite Queen's Logic.

But Jamie Spencer's mount failed to stage a challenge.

Alasha's jockey Johnny Murtagh received a one-day ban for careless riding over a bump with Dolores on the run for home.

1505 RL Davison Pretty Polly Fillies Stakes (Listed Race, 1m 2f)

1 Esloob 10-11f (R Hills)
2 Disco Volante 3-1 (J Fortune)
3 Half Glance 3-1 (T Quinn)

Red hot favourite Esloob won this Oaks trial in fairly convincing fashion by half a length from Disco Volante.

Half Glance was a length further back with Ballet Fame well out of the picture having tailed off. Trainer Barry Hills' Brown Eyes was a non-runner.

The Marcus Tregoning-trained Esloob was third behind winner Gossamer and Maryinski - who both run in the 1,000 Guineas - in the Meon Valley Stud Stakes last September.

1430 The Mail On Sunday/Tote Mile Handicap (1m)

1 Atlantic Quest 16-1 (R Hills)
2 Far Lane 7-1 (R Hughes)
3 Zandicular 16-1 (D Holland)

The first three again came from the stand side with Atlantic Quest pipping second favourite Far Lane by a neck.

Zandicular was beaten into third by a short head after some bumping on the run in which sparked a stewards' inquiry but the places remained unaltered.

Richard Hills, though, did pick up a one-day ban for reckless riding.

Ettrick Water was fourth on the far side and favourite Common Thought well back. Ian Balding's Timber Lodge was a non-runner.

1400 Curtis Medical Rated Stakes
(Handicap, 6f)

1 Border Subject 15-8f (S Drowne)
2 Chookie Heiton 8-1 (J Fortune)
3 Grey Emminence 25-1 (R Hughes)

Favourite Border Subject wins convincingly from the standside of the course as second favourite Seven No Trumps was steered by jockey Michael Hills to the right-hand side.

But with only one other horse for company, Seven No Trumps' switch to yesterday's faster ground proved in vain.
