England's women produced a great display against the European, World and Olympic champions the Netherlands, but after drawing one-all in regular time captain Kate Walsh and Charlotte Craddock missed from the spot to seal the Dutch a place in Saturday's final.

England now play Germany in the bronze medal play-off on Saturday, with live video coverage on the BBC Sport website from 2025 BST. Highlights of the match will be available on the BBC red button from midnight and looped after, and will be available at bbc.co.uk/hockey.
