Walsh was taken to hospital after being stretchered off |
England fell to a 1-0 defeat against Holland in the Women's World Cup, and saw captain Kate Walsh stretchered off with a potentially serious knee injury. Janneke Schopman put Holland in front after 14 minutes from a penalty corner.
Walsh, winning her 164th cap, was caught by Fatima Moreira de Melo's stick just before half-time and was taken to hospital for treatment.
England's best chances fell to Alex Danson and Jo Ellis, but neither could find the net.
Danson should have done better with her first chance on 19 minutes, with her finish giving Lisanne de Roever the chance to save comfortably.
Six minutes later, Danson had another opportunity only to find herself crowded out.

Sophie Polkamp wasted the chance to double Holland's lead shortly before the break, while Eefke Mulder missed an open goal.
After the break, chances were few and far between as Holland played with an eye to keeping hold of their lead.
England coach Danny Kerry said: "I thought in the first 10 minutes some of our girls played nervously, which I couldn't understand because this was a win-win match for us - no-one expected us to beat Holland.
"They got on top after they scored but we started to find our way back into the match and in the second half we were probably the better side.
"But a few of our inexperienced players on the forward line couldn't quite turn the pressure into an end product."
On Walsh's injury, he added: "It doesn't look good. I don't think she will be available for some time."
England can still make the semi-finals. They face India on Sunday before meeting Spain and Olympic champions Germany.
