Maeve Kyle (nee Shankey) is one of 10 players who are initially installed into Irish hockey's Hall of Fame. Kyle is joined by fellow legends Thelma McLernon (Hopkins), Joan O'Reilly and Joan Horne (Priestman) who played in the two decades after the World War II.
Betty Henderson is also elevated into the Hall of Fame. She is the sister of rugby legend Jack Kyle.
Men's hockey is represented by Harry Cahill, Reg Treacy, David Judge, Noel O'Dwyer and Ken Blackmore.
Maeve Kyle is now better known as an athlete who later became a top coach.
She won 46 caps between 1948 and 1966, and was also an international sprinter competing in three successive Olympics Games.
Thelma Hopkins was also an athlete of some note, winning a gold medal in the 1956 Commonwealth Games high jump and a silver in the long jump. She won 41 caps as a classy forward.
Betty Henderson is the wife of the late IRFU President and Ireland rugby star Noel. She was a member of the Triple Crown winning Irish team in 1950.
