England's men put up a brave fight before losing 3-2 to the Netherlands at Manchester's Belle Vue on Thursday. Rob Reckers opened the scoring for the visitors after 22 minutes, but Richard Mantell hit back with a penalty corner four minutes later.
Roderick Weusthof and Karel Klaver put the Dutch in control with two goals in four minutes after the break, before Ben Hawes got one back.
The teams meet again in Cannock on Saturday at 1430 BST.
