England lose fifth on penalties
England finished a disappointing sixth at the European Nations Championship in Leipzig after a 5-4 defeat to France on penalty strokes.

A stunning fightback from 2-0 down in the last six minutes of normal time almost won them the match.

Surbiton's Rob Moore netted a rebound in the 64th minute and Ben Hawes then followed in a short corner rebound with two minutes remaining to level.

He should have won it with seconds to go but flicked his penalty shot wide.

Extra-time was goalless and after four strokes each went in, Old Georgians' James Tindall saw his effort saved and Julien Boyer netted the winner.

Scotland, who were already relegated from the top tier, finished last after losing 4-3 on penalty strokes to Poland.

The Scots twice came from behind in normal time - Stephen Dick and Douglas Simpson scoring the goals - to draw 2-2 and 15 extra minutes could not separate them.

After three strokes had been netted successfully by each side Dariusz Malecki put the Poles 4-3 up and John Christie saw his effort saved.
