Beth Tweddle won two gold medals at the European Championships in May

Beth Tweddle believes the support of a home crowd in London in 2012 will help her achieve her dream of Olympic glory.

"Normally when you go to internationals you see one Great Britain flag and just your mum and dad in the crowd," Tweddle, 25, told BBC Radio Stoke.

"I was lucky enough to win the world title at the O2 in 2009 and to walk into the arena with 15,000 people screaming my name was just amazing.

"It's a feeling that you can't really replicate anywhere else in the world."

With exactly two years to go until the opening ceremony of the London Games Tweddle is aware she will be 27 when they begin and admits that it will be her last chance to win an Olympic gold medal.

"It is quite old for a female gymnast and I've pushed the boundaries to carry on, but it is possible," she added.

"In the Beijing Olympics in 2008, a German girl won a silver medal at the age of 32, so it's individual preference whether you want to carry on, but 2012 will be my last attempt."

The gymnastics events will be held at the O2 Arena, in the same venue that Tweddle won a gold medal in the floor event at the World Championships in 2009.

Tweddle, from Bunbury in Cheshire, also won two gold medals and a silver at the European Championships, which were held in Birmingham in May.
