Keatings may pass on 2010 Games

Following his silver medal at the Gymnastics World Championships, Daniel Keatings is targeting gold at the 2012 Olympics and 2014 Commonwealth Games.

However, the 19-year-old may not represent Scotland at next year's Commonwealth Games in Delhi.

"My main target is going to be 2014 in Glasgow," said Keatings.

"I'm not sure if I'm going to 2010 yet because the World Championships might be on. I've still got to talk to the technical committee."

Keatings was in the Scotland team at the Melbourne Commonwealth Games, aged 16, and became Scotland's first Olympic gymnast when he went to Beijing last year.

He claimed Britain's first ever all-round medal at a World Championships on Thursday, finishing behind Japan's Kohei Uchimura at the 02 Arena in London.

Looking ahead to the Games in London and Glasgow and competing in front of partisan home crowds again, Keatings said: "It's going to be amazing.

"It was a good warm up being in the O2 Arena, seeing what the crowd can give you, seeing how much it can push you through the all-around competition," he said.

"I really can't wait for it. I'm going to try and push my routines even further to see where I can get them to and try and compete with Uchimura and the top gymnasts."

Next year's World Championships will be in Rotterdam from 17-24 October, while the Commonwealth Games will run from 3-14 October in India.
