French has seen a consistent set of results on her GB horse Jakata |
Norfolk-raised Piggy French is expecting a tense affair at the World Equestrian Games later this month. The 30-year-old heads to Lexington, Kentucky off the back of a third and fourth-placed finish at the weekend's Blenheim Palace International. She told BBC Radio Norfolk: "I did think, standing around for the show-jumping, that everyone was getting a little bit tense. "I thought this was going to be nothing compared to three weeks time." Discussing the World Games she added: "In the running at the end of that there will be a lot of pressure and probably nothing like this week. | Both of them have a lot of qualities and it's very, very exciting for next year Piggy French on her Blenheim horses |
"It is nerve-racking, it doesn't take much to drop a pole and you've got to keep working hard and hope luck is on your side." She will be riding Jakata in the USA, a horse jointly owned by her father Wally and Michael Underwood, but achieved her Blenheim success on Chase The Moon and Flying Machine. "Both of them have a lot of qualities and it's very, very exciting for next year," she said. "How they've come out and performed this year, they would have learned a lot from this week."
