Fox-Pitt negotiates another Burghley fence on Parkmore Ed |
William Fox-Pitt claimed his fourth Burghley Horse Trials victory with success on Parkmore Ed. The pair were second behind New Zealand's Andrew Nicholson on Lord Killinghurst going into Sunday's show-jumping section.
But Fox-Pitt had just one fence down while Nicholson knocked down two to drop out of medal contention.
Polly Stockton finished second on Tom Quigley and Australia's Andrew Hoy was third on Master Monarch.
Fox-Pitt also had a fifth-place finish on Ballincoola, who he triumphed on in 2005.
"I'm in complete shock," said Fox-Pitt after his victory. "I am so chuffed for Ed but I can't believe he won it. Burghley might have been too soon for him but he proved it wasn't."
