Law trailing Severson in Kentucky

Britain's Leslie Law remains in second place after the cross country stage of the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event.

The Olympic gold medallist is 12.2 points behind Kim Severson on Winsome Adante, who put in one of only three completely clear rounds in Lexington.

Riding Coup de Couer, Law added just 4.4 time penalties to his score, giving him a total of 50.4 to Severson's 38.2.

Law praised Coup de Couer, telling the event's official website: "I'm very excited about his potential."

The Kentucky Three-Day Event is the first of three competition's which make up eventing's Grand Slam - the others are Badminton and Burghley.

Britain's Pippa Funnell made history in 2003 when she became the first rider to win all three.
