The Great Britain wheelchair rugby team narrowly missed out on a medal at the European Championships after losing to Germany in the bronze play-off.
The defending European champions, who were fourth at the Beijing Paralympics, were beaten 47-43 by their rivals.
GB, who lost to eventual champions Belgium in the semi-finals, led Germany by a point at half-time
But despite impressive performances by Jonathan Coggan and David Anthony, they faded badly in the third quarter.
Looking ahead to the 2012 Games, GB coach Tom O'Connor left behind some of his more experienced stars and gave debuts to four new players in the tournament, including Welshman Anthony.
But after winning their first four pool games, as happened in Athens and Beijing, they lost their crucial matches with a lack of experienced bench players coupled with mistakes and clinical finishing by their opponents to end their chances of a medal.
Despite the best efforts of Troye Collins and Andy Barrow, GB struggled to impose their game on Sweden in their final group match and a 53-37 defeat left them playing Belgium in the last four.
Although the ever-improving Mandip Sehmi scored 22 points against the Belgians, critical turnovers and errors saw GB lose 53-50 before their defeat to Germany, although the team's fourth-placed finish saw them secure a place at the 2011 World Championships in Canada.
An emotional Collins said afterwards: "I'm disappointed with my own performance and as a team we made crucial mistakes.
"I'm gutted because we obviously expect to win each game and come away with a medal but it wasn't to be this time.
"The new players did exceptionally well and surprised us senior players and I'm disappointed for them that we didn't get a medal."
Captain Andy Barrow was also disappointed with the team's overall result.
"We had certain aims and objectives which included qualifying for the World Championships which we achieved , however it doesn't take away the pain of finishing fourth," he said.
"This is just the start of the 2012 journey and it will be interesting to see which players have the right skills and tools to be part of the London team."
