Britain's adaptive rowers won four golds, three silvers, a bronze and also the overall team trophy at the Varese International Regatta this weekend.

Reigning Paralympic champion Tom Aggar won two golds in the men's arms-only single scull event on both days.

In addition he set an unofficial world best time of 4:58.5 in Sunday's race.

The mixed adaptive coxed four took gold on both days whilst Andy Houghton, a newcomer to the British adaptive squad, won two silver medals behind Aggar.

The British mixed double scull finished less than a second behind the Polish pair to claim silver on Saturday, and fought back after a poor start to claim Bronze on Sunday.

GB adaptive coach Louise Kingsley said: "This has been a really positive start to the season and I am pleased that the new squad members have performed well this weekend.

"As the season progresses and the World Championships get closer, however, we will expect the quantity and quality of the competition to rise."
