Wimbledon will hold its first women's doubles wheelchair tennis title at this year's championships.

The men's doubles event has been established since 2005, but the event has now been extended to incorporate the best women's doubles players.

"Playing on the grass will pose new challenges, but I'm looking forward to the challenge," said world singles number one Esther Vergeer.

The sport is now established at all four tennis grand slams.
