Olympic gold medallist Queally is linking up with Paralympian Kappes

Cyclist Jason Queally is aiming to become the first man to win Olympic and Paralympic gold.

A gold-medal winner in the kilometre time trial in 2000, Queally has teamed up with partially sighted Anthony Kappes, who is a double-gold medallist.

Kappes told BBC Radio 5 Live: "Let's hope it draws other international cyclists to the Paralympics."

Under Paralympic rules, Queally is not allowed to act as pilot to Kappes and compete in the discipline until 2010.

"At the moment we are training separately, so we can both develop as best we can," added the 35-year-old Kappes, who won gold with Barney Storey in the kilo and sprint events in Beijing.

"The last thing I need is Jason carrying me in training efforts."

The 38-year-old Queally also won a silver medal in Sydney in the team sprint event.
