The Great Britain blind football team reached the Beijing Paralympics after finishing runners-up to Spain in the European Championships in Greece. GB clinched a crucial 2-1 win over France in Friday's semi-finals with Swindon-based striker Darren Harris scoring both goals.
But they found Spain too good in Sunday's final, losing 5-0.
The two teams had drawn 3-3 in their opening game of the competition, thanks to a Dave Clarke hat-trick.
GB then secured a last-gasp 1-1 draw with Italy in their second pool game after Harris equalised with just 54 seconds remaining.
They clinched their last four place by winning the penalty shootout which separates teams that are level on points.
Man of the match, John Pugh, saved three Italian penalties before Clarke netted his spot kick to book Great Britain's place in the semi finals.

"We are delighted with the way things have gone this week. Our aims were to get into the final and therefore qualify and then win the tournament," said the squad's performance manager, Jeff Davis.
"Our main goal was achieved and the squad is delighted and naturally looking forward to next year.
"We were disappointed with Sunday's result, but although we had a similar number of shots on target, their finishing was more clinical.
"Looking ahead to next year we need to find some more players to add some depth to the squad not only for Beijing but also London 2012."
