 Rushgrove set a new world record in the T36 200m last month |
British sprint duo Ben Rushgrove and Graeme Ballard continued their rivalry at the Nationwide British Open Athletics in Manchester. Teenager Rushgrove emerged victorious in the T36 100m in 12.46 seconds, ahead of Ballard (12.56).
But Manchester-based Ballard gained revenge in the 200m, winning in a time of 24.94 seconds.
There was also another personal best of 14.49 seconds for teenager Katrina Hart in the women's T37 100m.
Elsewhere, wheelchair racer Brian Alldis had a clean sweep of wins in the T54 100, 200, 400 and 800m while there was a welcome return to winning ways for Mickey Bushell.
The 17-year-old, who had a spell off the track through illness earlier this year, triumphed in the T53 100 and 200m.
There was also double success for visually impaired sprinter Neil Fachie who won the T13 100 and 200m after recovering from a foot injury picked up while training in Portugal.
In the field events, Nathan Stephens recorded a clean sweep of victories in the F57 shot, discus and javelin competitions.
Richard Schabel defeated fellow international David Gale to win the F51 discus while there were also notable wins for Stephen Miller (F32 discus and club) and Danny West (F34 shot and discus).
Beverley Jones, who is adding the discus to the shot to challenge for two medals in Beijing, threw a British record of 26.54m to win the discus.
