Nathan Stephens put in a superb performance in Sweden |
The Great Britain sledge hockey team claimed a win and a draw in two games against Sweden as they gear up for the Winter Paralympics in Turin in March. GB claimed a famous 3-2 win, their first success in 25 years over the Swedes, with Ian Warner, David French and Nathan Stephens all on target.
In the second match, Stephens, French and Richard Whitehead all netted in the first period to put GB 3-0 ahead.
But Sweden responded with a hat-trick before the game ended 4-4.
Coach Kevin Whiteman was delighted with his team's performance against the side ranked third in the world.
"It was a tremendous achievement by the lads and they put in a magnificent display in both games," said the coach, who only took over the role late last year.
"This puts us in good heart ahead of Turin."
