Tushar Patel eased to victory in the men's wheelchair race at the Great Manchester Run on Sunday. Patel, who holds the British 10km record, finished 11 seconds ahead of Kenny Herriott in 24.45 minutes, while Jason Gill took a distant third.
In the women's race, Tanni Grey Thompson had to settle for third behind Francesca Porcellato and Shelly Woods.
Three-time London Marathon winner Porcellato of Italy took the women's title in 25.57.
Woods, who was also second to Porcellato in last month's London Marathon, was just over thirty seconds back in what has been a superb season so far for the Blackpool teenager.
