The event, in its second year, will be staged over seven days from 1-7 May at various venues in the city.

Four sports will again form the programme of events - athletics, track cycling, swimming and wheelchair basketball.

BBC Sport will broadcast live coverage of the event on Sunday Grandstand.

The Manchester Velodrome will stage the cycling and basketball events while swimming will be held at the Manchester Aquatic Centre and athletics will take place at the Regional Arena in Sportcity.

Over 300 competitors from 44 countries competed in the inaugural event in Manchester in May with Tanni winning the T53 100m and 400m double.

"The Visa Paralympic World Cup is developing into the focal point for elite disability multi-sport competition on an annual basis," she said at Monday's launch.

"The first year was a tremendous success and the event is only going to get stronger year-on-year as we build towards the Paralympic Games in Britain in 2012."

In the wheelchair basketball competition, Great Britain, the defending men's champions, will face Paralympic gold medalists Canada and silver medalists Australia when they attempt to retain their title.

Italy, the current European champions, have also been invited to compete in the event from 1-4 May.

In the women's event, Great Britain will face Mexico and Spain with one team still to confirm their participation.

"This year's Paralympic World Cup proved that spectators in Great Britain and Manchester are committed to Paralympic sport and we will be able to prove this again in 2006," said International Paralympic Committee president Sir Philip Craven.
